Many Punch! users probably wonder why some of the objects they download from the galleries will not work in their version of Punch! The program will tell you the file has been corrupt or was not built in Punch! As newer versions of Punch! Software are released new objects are built using the new features available. These new features are not available in the older version of Punch! Software so to make the new objects compatible with the older versions, Punch! has given us export options. By exporting your new objects to a lesser version you can use the objects in a wider variety of Punch! Software.
There are several ways you can export objects from the CWC. This will allow other users with a lesser version to utilize the objects in their Punch! Software. Below you will see the examples available to you for exporting objects along with some important notes about custom textures.
Exporting to 7.0
Exporting in 7.0 will allow users with Punch! Software versions 7.0 or higher to utilize that object in the design plans. All custom textures will be lost.
Exporting to 8.0
Exporting in 8.0 will allow users with software version 8.0 or higher to utilize that object in the design plans. All custom textures will be retained if available in the program.
Exporting to 12.0
Exporting in 12.0 will allow users with software version 12.0 or higher to utilize that object in the design plans. All custom textures will be retained if available in the program.
Note: Custom Textures
If you would like to share your custom textures with the users in the community via the Down/Upload Galleries, so they too can get the full effect of the objects design, you must include them in your zip file. It is recommended that you include a text file explaining the location of the custom textures. Why? It is important that custom textures be placed in the exact location in which the object was saved to the library so the program will know where to find them and apply it to the object properly. If you see a black texture with yellow ! then your textures were not found. What can you do? You can open the object in the CWC, re-apply the textures then save the object to the library again.
